More Non-bumi Lecturers Needed
MORE Chinese and Indian lecturers are needed to ensure a balanced representation of all ethnic groups in public universities, reported China Press.
Deputy Higher Education Minister Datuk Ong Tee Keat was quoted as saying that a racially balanced number of lecturers in public universities would enable the country to have a better pool of quality staff.
He said the ministry was keen to recruit more non-bumiputra lecturers.
It held recruitment exercises in Britain, Australia and New Zealand earlier this year to lure back Malaysian talent based in foreign countries, he said

bagi saya, ong tee keat mungkin telah nampak bahawa malaysia sedang mengalami ketegangan (???) yang lebih berbanding di zaman TDM dahulu...
maka, saranan beliau mungkin bagi menstabilkan keadaan di mana beliau mempunyai sedikit kuasa...
tentang quality staff hanya boleh dicapai jika pensyarah terdiri dari pelbagai kaum dalam jumlah yang seimbang itu, mungkin ada benarnya...
tetapi jika beliau secara tersirat menuduh pensyarah melayu mempunyai agenda perkauman dan ingin meneutralkan semula, beliau mungkin silap...
kerana mengikut pengalaman saya, walaupun pensyarah di universiti ada yang tidak menyokong kerajaan, tetapi mereka cukup professional dengan tidak terbawa-bawa ke universiti...
